Job Description:

 

The Kids Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Family Ministries Director in creating and maintaining a healthy, safe, and effective Kids Ministry environment that attracts children and leads them into a growing relationship with Jesus. The Coordinator will accomplish this by assisting with volunteer leadership, coordinating ministry logistics and curriculum, and helping execute the vision and direction of Atlee Kids.

The Kids Coordinator serves as a key support to the Family Ministries Director by helping ensure that every ministry environment is organized, welcoming, and excellent, allowing children, families, and volunteers to experience the love of Jesus each week. They will also help ensure that every classroom and ministry environment is prepared with excellence in anticipation of Sunday mornings and ministry events.

●      LEADERSHIP: The church is, by design, an organization of volunteers.  Every staff member must excel in management of self, teams, and others.

●      EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE: The church is a collection of people; therefore, interpersonal and listening skills are necessary for every staff member.

●      COMPUTER PROFICIENCY: Must be comfortable working with computers and proficient with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Gmail, and Google Drive.

●      COMMUNICATION:  Professional written and verbal communication skills required.

●      DISCERNMENT: Must be able to discern needs and respond appropriately, sensitively and proactively.

●      SELF-STARTER: Must be a catalytic leader and self-starter who not only gets things done, but makes things happen.

 

Job Responsibilities:

●      Assist in overseeing the kids ministry of Atlee Church with Family Ministry Director.

●      Prepare classrooms each week in anticipation of Sunday mornings by organizing supplies, setting up lesson materials, restocking resources, arranging activities, and ensuring every environment is clean, welcoming, and ministry ready.

●      Fluent in the current kids ministry curriculum and VBS curriculum. 

●      Continue to evaluate and improve the quality of Kids Ministry programming by assessing curriculum, creativity, teaching environments, volunteers effectiveness, classroom experiences, equipment, and overall ministry excellence.

●      Serve as a point person for Sunday morning logistics and problem solving and serve as the primary point person during the Family Ministry Directors absence (vacations, student trips/retreats, etc.), ensuring all ministry environments continue to operate smoothly. 

●      Assist in planning, organizing, and executing Kids Ministry events throughout the years, including Atlee Kids Week, family events, child dedications, baptisms, volunteer training, and seasonal celebrations.

●      Help manage Kids Ministry social media, promotional materials and event communication.

●      Anticipate ministry needs by proactively identifying ways to improve systems, solve problems, and create excellent environments for children, families and volunteers.

 

Hours and Benefits:

 

●      Requires a minimum of 10 hours/week. 1-2 days a week and several Sundays a month. Some nights and weekends will be required.  Easter, Kids Week, and Christmas Eve are required. Monthly All Staff meeting required (zoom if needed) - usually the second or third Thursday of the month.

 

●      Communicating your anticipated change in schedule is expected, so that your supervisor and staff are informed of your whereabouts.
