Baptism
We believe every person who has made the decision to believe in Christ for salvation should be baptized. However, in the Bible, all who are baptized asked to be baptized, so you are free to wait until you are ready and have a personal desire to do so. (Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12)
The one requirement for baptism is belief in Christ. Baptism does not
make you a believer - it shows you are a believer. It is an outward
symbol of an inward decision. It does not "save" you; only your faith
in Christ does. Therefore, we do not baptize children until they are
old enough to understand and believe this personally. (Acts 18:8; Ephesians 2:8,9)
We encourage baptism because it follows Jesus’ example and Christ commanded it. (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 1:9)
We baptize the same way Jesus and every baptism in the Bible was done, by immersion. (Matthew 3:16; Acts 8:38-39)
Being immersed under water and coming up is the best picture of someone
who is following Christ because it symbolizes best His burial and
resurrection and a person's new life in Christ. (Roman 6:4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 2:12)
